He is a Senior Research Scientist in the Print Adjacencies & 3D Lab at HP. He works on developing new systems and prototypes for enabling seamless access to digital and physical information. Rares Vernica received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of California, Irvine in 2011 and a B.Sc. from Politehnica University of Bucharest, Romania in 2004. He has served as an intern at global companies such as Yahoo!, Microsoft, and IBM. Rares received various honors, including the Yahoo! Key Scientific Challenges award in 2010 for his research on Web Information Management and the Chair's Fellowship from University of California, Irvine in 2005.
- His general area of interest in Computer Science is large-scale data processing and analysis. His lecture at the International Biomedical Congress - Sofia will be on how Artificial intelligence can be used to diagnose patients. This combines the state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms with large-scale data processing and analysis.
